Step 1
Keep a running list of things you have to do and items you have to buy. Keep the list in a convenient place like the refrigerator door. You can easily make changes as needed. When the time comes to run the errangs, you simply take your list with you.
-
Step 2
Get help building the liss. If there are multiple people in your household, make sure they know about the list. It is also helpful if they tell you. This will prevent any last-minute errands that cause you to rush about.
-
Step 3
Plan ahead. If there are big events coming up, you should be able to get ready ahead of time. It is a good idea to create separate lists for these occasions. You can also buy in bulk on items of regularly needed items.
-
Step 4
Put items that need to be returned in the trunk of your car. Put the receipt right in the bag for each item. You will have an easier time and are less likely to forget those returns.
-
Step 5
Designate your days. Plan on which days you go grocery shopping, pick up your dry cleaning, etc. You will have an easier time if you plan to do a few things at a time. Stop by the store on your way home from work. Do errands that are located in the same area at the same time.
-
Step 6
If you have any special errands, schedule these into your week. You may forget these things, so the sooner you can do it, the better.
-
Step 7
If possible, do your errands during low-activity times. Get everything done before most people start to do their errands. Typically, the best times are before and after the lunch hour.
-
Step 8
Organize your purse or wallet before you run your errands. It is best to get rid of any unneeded items or tidy up what you have. You will not have to search for what you need later on. After you return, you can reorganize again to store receipts and other items.
-
Step 9
Unpack and unload all items when you return home. Put everything where it belongs.
