Instructions

    • 1

Locate where your cable provider has or will bring the main line onto your property.

    • 2

Determine where you would like to have your cable outlets.

    • 3

Attach a splitter to the main cable line.

    • 4

Measure how far you will need to run your wire to connect the splitter to your first television. Keep in mind how you want the wire to look afterwords; if you want it to run through a wall, around a doorway and so on.

    • 5

Cut an appropriate length of wire, leaving a few extra feet on either end for a bit of slack. Better to have too much rather than too little.

    • 6

Run the wire, drilling and attaching to the wall where necessary with the u-nails. If you run a wire through an exterior wall, make sure to use the caulk to seal the hole.

    • 7

Attach the coaxial ends to the wire, and connect one end to the splitter, and the other end to your television.

    • 8

Repeat for every other television you would like hooked up.

Tips & Warnings

  • The better the wire you use, the better the picture you will have.

  • If you run over 200 feet of wire, or have more than three outlets, you might need to purchase an in-line amplifier to help boost the signal strength.

This is rather late reply, but it all depends how your house is laid out. If you have access to an attic or crawlspace in your roof it should be quite simple. If not, then it might be much more difficult. The easiest thing to do is find the closest path to a cable line that could be wired to the desired room. For example, you have a cable downstairs and you have a room upstairs that isn't wired but on the same wall. You would then create a small hole in the desired room (not bigger than a wall plate) and fish the wire down the 2x4 wall cavity and connect the two wires with a 2-way splitter. In dire cases, depending on your wiring scheme & floor plan, you might have to drill through or cut into 2x4s or subfloor beams to relay your wiring. Laying cable through your baseboards is tacky. Also, given the girth of some of the cable wires, it is not recommended. Moreover, if none of those...

I have a two story home with three rooms pre-wired for cable. The living room and the den downstairs. The masterbedroom upstairs. The cable comes into the basement from underground. As a matter of fact all my utilities come in from underground. Anyway, I have second bedroom upstairs that is not wired for cable and would like to wire it for cable without going outside of the house to do it. I'd like to run a cable through the interior walls if at all possible. My problem is that I can't really figure out how to do it. I do how ever have phone in that bedroom and I was wondering if I might be able to some how run the cable thru the wall at the phone outlet. If the phone line is tacted down to the 2x4s in the wall, I'm screwed. Come to think of it. I'm pretty sure The phone line is tacted down. Anyway, do you have any suggestion? Thanks Probe1152
