Instructions

    • 1

Postcards of the city where you are getting married are excellent for this project. They can be cut down to 3-by-4 inch size (or a little larger if preferred). Photos of the church, temple or bride and groom can be used as well. Put two strips of double-sided tape on the back of the 3-by-4 inch images. Attach the same size white card stock piece so they are flush. Repeat to make as many luggage tag favors as you want. The blank back side remains blank.

    • 2

Heat the laminating machine. Place four luggage tags face down inside a laminating sheet so they are at least 2 inches apart. Place the sheet inside the protective laminating pouch and put it through the laminating machine; be patient, as it goes slow. When it comes through the other side, slip it through the laminating machine one more time.

    • 3

Remove the laminated sheet carefully--it's hot--from the protective pouch and set aside to cool. Continue laminating the remaining number of luggage tags.

    • 4

With scissors or heavy duty paper cutter, cut each luggage tag from the laminated sheet at least 1/4 inch away from the image. This seals the luggage tags inside. Snip a bit of each corner to remove any sharp edges. Punch a hole centered near the top of each tag and slip a cable tie through without connecting it. Each recipient can attach the tag to luggage, a briefcase or a handbag.

    • 5

Place one or more tags in a small clear bag with a black mini permanent marker and tie with a pretty ribbon. Recipients can write their names and addresses on the laminated blank side of the luggage tag favors. They will last a long time and be appreciated as a thoughtful gift from a special event.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can vary the size of the luggage tags as you wish.

  • A protective laminating pouch must be used to prevent destroying the laminating machine.

  • This project is adaptable for other themed occasions such as birthdays, holidays and travel as great gifts. Scan a child's drawing and reduce it to the size of a luggage tag for a great gift.

  • Names and addresses of the recipients can be printed on 8 1/2-by-11 inch white card stock before cutting down to size and attaching to images for laminating, if desired.

  • Laminating machines can become quite hot, so be careful when heating the laminating sheets.
