How to Make Book Page Decoupage Decor Boxes

These simple steps will create charming decoupage boxes that will be both functional and decorative in your favorite room. For an added personal touch, use a copy of your favorite book as the material for this project. These boxes create a lovely decorative touch and can be used to conceal remote controls, candles, stationary or anything you'd like!

Things You'll Need

• Paperback book
• Scissors
• Mod Podge decoupage glue
• Sponge brush
• Craft knife
• Small cardboard boxes
• Hot glue gun (optional)
• Ribbon (optional)

Instructions

1. Cut the pages from a paperback book with the craft knife as close to the spinal binding as possible. Remove any excess binding glue from the page edges by trimming with scissors. Cut the book pages into 1/2-inch-tall strips across the width of the pages.

   You can apply this decoupage treatment to any size or shape of box. You can use a plain cardboard box which can be bought at any crafts store. Spread a thin layer of the Mod Podge decoupage glue onto the surface of the box using the sponge brush. Smooth a strip of the book page onto the box. Coat the book page with another thin layer of glue. Repeat this step, overlapping the book page strips slightly so none of the box is visible between the strips. Make sure to smooth out any bubbles in the pages, pressing firmly into the box with the sponge brush. Once the box is completely covered, apply a final thin coat of the decoupage glue.

3. Cover the lid of the box using the same techniques found in Step 2, including the inside of the box lid, if desired.

Tips & Warnings

• Add an extra decorative touch by hot gluing ribbon trim around the base of the box or the box lid.
