1
Send out invitations. Figure out how many people you want to be in attendance at your Halloween Party, including the possibility of adults attending with the kids. Set it for a time after dinner. That's best because you will only be responsible for providing snacks and treats. You can either send out homemade invitations or invitations purchased from a party supply store. Send the invitations out a couple of weeks in advance. Make reminder calls a couple days before the party to those you invited. You can get a better idea of the head count after this phone call.

2
Purchase Halloween decorations. Buy orange and black balloons filled with helium and tied with ribbon. The balloons will serve both as decorations and as treats for the children to take home. Purchase black and orange crepe paper to decorate the rooms. Purchase spider webs in the bag to decorate by your front door or in the corners of the main room the party is to be held in. Purchase any Halloween cling-ons or pictures you want to hang up at the Halloween party.

Plan food that will be served. Since you’ll be planning the party after dinner, you can stick with appetizers and goodies. Plan on making sugar cookies in the shapes of pumpkins, ghosts or cats. Kids can frost and decorate these at the party. Choose a drink to serve and add a little Halloween creativity by sticking a plastic hand in the middle of the punch bowl. Make and decorate Halloween cupcakes for the kids to snack on later on in the evening. Plan on having chips, crackers and other healthy snacks at the party as well.

Decide if you want to have a piñata. Piñatas often add lots of fun and excitement to a Halloween party. If the weather is going to be rainy or stormy, it may not be a good idea. However, if the weather is clear, it would be lots of fun for the kids and the parents. You can find Halloween themed piñatas at your local party supply store. Fill the piñata with candy and other little goodies.
