Making your own wedding favors is the smart choice. You'll save money and be given the opportunity to do it totally your way. A floral candle wedding favor is sophisticated but fun. You can have the exact color and flower that suits your personal preferences. You can match it exactly to all the other aspects of your wedding decor. The trick is to trust your own judgment and wishes when it comes to your wedding. Don't second guess yourself when creating party favors. Enjoy making them as much as your guests will enjoy receiving them, and you are well on your way to a successful wedding.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Candle plate
  • Pillar candle
  • Glue
  • Plastic flowers
  1. Step 1

Select a base. A small candle plate is the perfect choice. You want to buy these in bulk since you will be giving them as favors. You always want to make at least a dozen extra when it comes to favors for unexpected guests or unforeseen accidents. Choose a color that matches your wedding decor or your personal favorite color. White is the popular choice.

  2. Step 2

Choose a large pillar candle for the centerpiece. This should be colored and scented. The pastel version of your favorite color is recommended. You could also choose blue to symbolize the "something blue" bridal tradition. Use your imagination for your own color (and reason for choosing it).

  3. Step 3

Secure the candle to the base of the plate. This should be done with glue. Although that's not typically done with candles (and you should make sure the glue is flame resistant), this is a smart choice since it will be a party favor.

  4. Step 4

Cut the flower portion from the top of a bunch of plastic flowers. You want to allow at least half a dozen flowers per each candle. Buy these in bulk. You want to make sure that you leave enough of the stem so that the flower does not appear awkward, but cut it close enough to where the flower alone can be viewed when sat upright.

  5. Step 5

Glue the cut plastic flower "blooms" around the base of the candle with the glue. The flowers should rest upon the side of the candle and the base of the plate. The flowers should make a complete circle around the candle.

  6. Step 6

Add accessories to the arrangement. If your wedding is for the holidays, adding candy canes will be a nice touch. If you are getting married in the tropics, choose a similar addition to make your wedding favor a true souvenir from the wedding experience others will enjoy with you.

Tips & Warnings
  • Go with the most daring choice. If something scares you about choosing an outrageous but favorite flower, go with what you truly want. There's no rule that says a wedding can't include orange or gray. Go with what you love.
  • Don't give this favor to any children attending. Make sure you have a few alternative wedding favors suitable for young guests.
