The Canon Pixma MP970 Printer is a versatile all-in-one machine that can quickly and efficiently copy, scan, and print everything from standard black and white documents to photographs in vibrant color. The printer comes with two paper sources, a rear paper tray and a lower paper cassette. This allows you the flexibility of loading different types of print media into each of the paper sources and to switch easily between those two sources when necessary.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Canon Pixma 970 Series Printer
  • Print media
  1. Step 1

Ensure the document cover is in its closed position. Press and release the ON/OFF button located in the upper left hand corner of the operations panel to turn the power on.

  2. Step 2

Determine the type of print media you will use most frequently. Load this media into the rear paper tray with the print side facing up. Determine the other type of print media you will use on a less frequent basis. Load this media into the lower paper cassette with the print side facing down.

  3. Step 3

Observe the light on the Paper Feed Switch located below the ON/OFF switch on the operations panel. The light above the Paper Feed Switch indicates the rear paper tray has been selected. This is the default setting. The light below the switch indicates the lower paper cassette has been selected. Press the Paper Feed Switch to select the paper source you wish you use for the current print job.

  4. Step 4

Place your finger on the top center of the paper output tray and pull it down and toward you until it is fully opened. Continue the print operation. The printer will feed print media from which ever source is indicated by the Paper Feed Switch light.

Tips & Warnings
  • Some sizes of print media, including legal size and credit card size, will not work in the lower cassette. Print media that is too large or too small for the lower cassette must use the rear paper tray.
  • Always inspect print media before loading it into the paper source. Insure there are no wrinkles, tears or curled edges which can result in paper jams.
  • Do not load print media higher than the Load Limit Mark on either the rear paper tray or the lower paper cassette.
  • Do not load print media that contains stickers into either paper source.
