Instructions

  1. Potting and Sprouting

    • 1

Prepare the wheat grains by washing them and soaking them in water for about 12 hours. Depending on the size of your planting container, about a half a cup of seeds should be adequate.

    • 2

Loosely pack the pots or planter with soil.

    • 3

Cover the soil over with wheat grains, tightly enough that the grains are touching but not piled on top of one another.

    • 4

Sprinkle a thin layer of soil over the grains and loosely cover the container with paper or tinfoil. This will cause the grains to sprout. Alternately, you can skip this step if you sprout the grains prior to planting.

    • 5

Check the grains daily. If they have not sprouted any green leaves or shoots, lightly mist them with water and replace the cover.

    Growing and Harvesting

    • 6

Once the grains have sprouted, uncover the potting container and place it in indirect sunlight.

    • 7

Water the grass daily, taking care not to over water. The soil should be moist all the way through, but never soupy.

    • 8

When the grass grows to about 7 inches tall, you can cut it with scissors and use your juicer to make wheat grass juice.

    • 9

You can use the same grains to grow one or two more crops of grass. Once they are depleted, break up the roots into the soil and start over with a new batch of grains.
