In order to thaw frozen fish safely, it must be done slowly.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Always thaw frozen fish in the refrigerator, never on the countertop. Place frozen fish on a plate or pan to catch any drips. Place in the refrigerator until thawed.

  2. Step 2

Use thawed fish the same day. It cannot be refrozen.

  3. Step 3

Fish must be thawed before cooking, especially when using the microwave.

  4. Step 4

When purchasing frozen fish, make sure it is frozen solid and that it has a good freshness date. Purchase it last so that it will not begin to thaw out while you are shopping.

  5. Step 5

Fish will keep in the freezer for about 3 months. Once you thaw it out, it must be used the same day.
