How to Discover Your Dream Career
More often than not, people are working at a job that’s just something to give them money instead of it being their dream career. No one should ever have to utter the statement, “I don’t like my job, but it pays the bills.” Finding a job that you love is not easy, but it is possible. Here are some tips for discovering your dream career sooner than later.

1
Make a list of what you really love doing. It doesn’t matter if you work with computers, but have “playing with my dog” and “visiting museums” on your list. It’s all about what you love spending your time doing when you don’t have to be doing it.

2
Consider volunteering in a field that interests you. Most places are willing to accept any volunteer and give free training if the person is willing to learn. You get to see how the business runs and how well you work in that environment.

Take some classes. There are plenty of opportunities to take individual classes in a subject that you like. You can take classes in everything from cooking to computers, and some you don’t even have to pay for. Not only are they helpful for finding your dream career, but they can be useful if you choose to go into that specific field.

Think about what your passions were as a child. Did you love cooking or writing stories? That could be what you’re meant to do now. What you did as a child, you did for fun, before life got in the way and you had more responsibilities. Many people who have discovered their dream career can trace their passion for it back to childhood.

Do your research. Talk to those that are already in the fields that you are considering. Don’t be afraid to make phone calls and send emails asking what the job entails and how you can go about getting into that position.

Tips & Warnings
Make a list to weigh the pros and cons of the career that you’re considering. When you have it all out in front of you, you can think more clearly.
Before you jump into applying for your dream career, think about if you can really do that specific work day after day. For example, you may love animals, but you need to think about if you handle the responsibilities and duties that come with caring for many of them at one time for many hours a day.
