1
Fill up on gas during the weekday. Gas prices get hiked up on Friday. It’s done in anticipation for all of the fun things people plan on doing over the weekend.
-
2
Go to the pumps at night. Gas pumps deliver more fuel in cooler temperatures. So make it habit to make a gas run after dinner.

3
Patronize busy gas stations. They are the ones who have to purchase fresh gas on a regular basis. This type of gas gives you more mileage because it has less contaminants.
-
4
Maintain the air in your tires. Vehicles get more mileage per gallon when their tires are properly inflated. If you aren’t sure what the pressure in your RV tire should be, check the owner’s manual.
-
5
Obey the speed limit. The faster a car is driven the more gas it uses. If you have a tendency to put the pedal to the metal, take advantage of your cruise control.
-
6
Keep up-to-date on oil changes. Cars that receive regular maintenance get more mileage per gallon. It has to do with the lower amount of pollutants in their emissions.
-
7
Shut off your car during a traffic jam. If you’re not moving, it makes no sense to waste gas idling. Turn off your car and wait for traffic to move again.
-
8
Don’t pay for premium gas. It’s a myth that you get more mileage with it. Instead, opt for a tank full of cheap, regular gas.
-
9
Watch your weight. Heavy cars use more gas. So don’t fill up your RV with unnecessary equipment or items. Take your time and really think about what you need to bring on a trip.
-
10
Look for the cheapest gas station near camp. Don’t let laziness or convenience suck you in. Go the extra block to fill up for a few cents less.
