Want to throw a spooky celebration? A homemade haunted house is the way to go. A common feature in many haunted houses is bowls full of goop. Guests enter a dark room and plunge their hands into this slimy mess. Make your own bowl of sloppy scum and tell youngsters it's monster brains!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 cups school glue
  • 1 to 2 cups warm water
  • Food coloring
  • 1 tsp. borax
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • Cornstarch
  • Plastic bugs
  • Rubber eyeballs
  1. Step 1

Pour the glue into a small bowl. Add the warm water about half a cup at a time until you reach the desired consistency. The mixture should be thick but runny, like pancake batter.

  2. Step 2

Add a few drops of food coloring to the glue mixture and combine. You can use any color you want, depending on the type of goop you're making. For example, you could use red for blood, green for brains or yellow for mucus.

  3. Step 3

In a separate dish, mix the borax and 1/2 cup warm water until the borax dissolves. Pour the borax mixture into the glue mixture and combine. The goop should be thick but liquidy enough to plunge your hands into easily. If it is too thin, add a pinch of cornstarch. If it is too thick, dribble in a bit of warm water.

  4. Step 4

Add plastic bugs and/or rubber eyeballs to the goop. These things give the goop some texture and make it extra scary and realistic.

Tips & Warnings
  • Add fruit snacks or Jell-O cutouts to the goop at the last minute to add extra-disgusting, slimy chunks to the mixture.
  • Never let children eat this goop.
  • Always keep goop away from clothing; it can stain. If you are concerned about it staining the skin, have children put on thin, disposable gloves first.
