It won’t necessarily pay the bills, but it will give you some extra side cash. According to the National Plasma Centers website, 10 percent of all college students have donated plasma to make money. 1. Find a plasma donation center near you. They are located in most cities, especially in ones that have college campuses. See Resources below for a guide to finding your local plasma center.

2. Eat something and drink a lot of water before going to the plasma center. This will help you from feeling too lightheaded after donating your plasma.

3. Avoid drinking alcohol within 72 hours of donating plasma because alcohol can dehydrate your plasma supply.

4. Call the plasma center to determine whether you need to make an appointment. Most places allow walk-in donations, but you might need to be able to set aside an hour or two depending on how long the wait is.

5. Visit the center. Different plasma donation centers may require forms, ID or other items. Prepare accordingly by bringing a valid driver's license and be ready to fill out some paperwork. When you call ahead to make an appointment ask the center what forms and information they require.

6. Know that the employees at the center will guide you through their individual process involving plasma donation. After donating the plasma, the center will pay you for your donation.
