Things You'll Need:
- Computer
- Internet access
- Hobby, business or expertise
-
Step 1
Choose a web hosting company and site builder. You don't have to learn complicated programming or uploading techniques to start if you begin with the right site host. I highly recommend Site Build It! (link below) for both newbies and experienced webmasters. I chose to build my own website with SBI because it is an incredible time saver and allows me to spend my time writing content and monetizing my site.
-
Step 2
Research your site topic and main keywords to determine the popularity of your subject. You want to find a good niche which both interests you and has plenty of demand without too much supply, that is, other websites on the same topic.
-
Step 3
Begin building your home page and website pages around your central theme. Each page should be written on specific, researched keyword phrases. Site Build It's Brainstorm It tool is especially helpful for compiling your master keyword list.
-
Step 4
Add pictures and media to your site to add interest to your pages. Keep them simple at the same time, as over-busy pages tend to lose your visitors.
-
Step 5
Publicize and promote your site, building back links and social media links to your pages. Participate in blog carnivals and writing contents to increase your site's visibility within the niche market you target.
-
Step 6
Monetize your website by promoting your own products or services or affiliate products tied to your site contents. Advertisements and text ads can add to your site's revenue or even be your primary source of website income.
