Some dogs shed their coats with the seasons. Here's how to brush your dog's shedding coat with a dog shedding brush.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Zoom Groom or similar brush for dog hair
  1. Step 1

Move your dog to an outdoor location, or a hard floor where you can easily sweep up the excess pet hair.

  2. Step 2

Your dog can be sitting or standing, although a standing dog is easier to brush all at once. Make sure your dog's coat is perfectly dry.

  3. Step 3

Start by petting your dog to reassure it. Next, start working the Zoom Groom or a similar shedding brush through your dogs hair, from front to back. Hair will gently start to pull off your dog's back.

  4. Step 4

As hair accumulates in the brush, pull it off, and then continue brushing. Brush until all loose hair is removed. If hair looks like it's about to shed, but doesn't come out, you'll have to wait for it to naturally loosen.

  5. Step 5

Give your dog a treat, and then clean up the floor (or backyard.)

Tips & Warnings
  • Use a bathroom size trash can to clumps of the fur into if you want less mess.
