Step 1
Find a book in the library, online, or at a used book store that teaches basic positions, poses, and breathing techniques. Study this book and perform some of the exercises as your first introduction to yoga.

Go to a yoga class.
Now that you know a little bit about yoga, you're ready to go to a class. Find a class in your area online, through bulletin boards at coffee shops and organic food co-ops, or by asking a friend if you can join him or her at their yoga class. -
Step 3
Create a yoga room in your home. Purchase a yoga mat, and place it in the center of the room. Clear the room of clutter and introduce, harmonious, healing energy into the room with a fountain or green plants.

Step 4
Do the best you can. You won't be expected to perform difficult positions until you are ready. Always try to do the best you can to practice proper poses, but don't become disappointed or frustrated if you can't. You'll become better if your relax and achieve at your own pace.
