Step 1
Use a shaving razor, a hair trimmer, or an electric razor. Electric razors and trimmers are less likely to cause red bumps on sensitive neck skin. Using an actual shaving razor is more likely to cause razor burn.
-
Step 2
Follow the hairline. Your last haircut left a hairline on the lower part of your hair. Trim or shave all the fuzzy new hair that has grown outside the hairline, but leave the shape of the hairline alone.
-
Step 3
Shave in front of two mirrors, or have a friend help you. To shave with two mirrors, get a handheld mirror and face away from the bathroom mirror. Now use the handheld mirror to look back into your reflection, and you'll see the area that needs to be shaved. Or, get a friend or family member to shave your neck hair for you.
-
Step 4
Cleaning up the back of your hairline on a regular basis is a necessity if you want to look sharp and polished with a short haircut.
