Tips & Warnings
  • You can buy whole cumin seeds in the indian store
  • Store your ground up cumin in your pantry where it is dark and cool.
  • Use this ground up cumin in your yougurt raitha, and on your indian and mexican recipes. Often the ground beef that you use in tacos has cumin in it.
  • If you do not have a spice grinder (basically a mini food processor), use a mortar and pestle- but this will take a considerably longer time. If you doing more cumin all at one time, consider using a food processor
  • Watch the cumin seeds when they are roasting on the stove top- if the heat is on too high, they will burn to a very dark black color (not good)
  • It is important to keep stirring the cumin seeds once on the burner
