Step 1
Gather your supplies:
It's not too complicated to give a dog a bath. You just need a few simple supplies. Be sure to have a gentle dog shampoo that will not irritate your dog's skin. Have plenty of towels. You may also want to have some cotton swabs on hand to clean around the dog's eyes and ears. -
Step 2
Put your dog in the bathtub.
Depending on your dog, this may take more than one person. You all may get soaked. At least you'll have fun. -
Step 3
Turn on the water and get your dog wet.
This is easiest if you have a hand held shower head. If not, use a cup. Be sure to get the dog wet from head to tail. Do not get water in the dog's eyes. They generally do not like that. -
Step 4
Lather up your dog.
Scrub a dub-dub. Soapy doggy in the tub. Squirt a small amount of soap down the length of your dog. Gently work the soap into your dog's fur. -
Step 5
Rinse your dog.
Using a cup or shower head, carefully rinse your dog starting from his head and working your way down to his tail. Be careful not to get soap in his eyes, it may sting. -
Step 6
Dry your dog.
Drain the water from your tub and have your dog stand on a dry towel. Let your dog do his shake thing where he gets you soaked too. Pat him dry with several towels. -
Step 7
Clean your dog's ears
If you dog has waxy ears, gently clean the exterior of his ears with a cotton swab. Never put the swab inside his ears. That could hurt him. -
Step 8
To finish off the dog grooming, clip your dog's nails. Now you have a squeaky clean and happy dog.
