Rubistar 4 Teachers.org is an online tool that teachers and students can use to make exemplary rubrics. This program is for project-based learning activities. You can both save and edit them right online. This allows you to be able to access them from home, school or anywhere. The use of this tool is free for anyone to use. This is helpful when adding quality to your curriculum.

      Log on to Rubistar4teachers.org and begin to use this site (see Resources). The first thing to do on this site is to register. To do this click on the word "Register" which is located in the upper right corner of the login section. The process is simple and when you're done it will say "Ready to Go!" At this point click on the green icon labeled "New Rubric."

      Choose a Customizable Rubric by clicking on a subject. There are many to choose from so you may want to ask yourself what you need it for. For training purposes click on "Making a Brochure" located under the "Products" heading.

      Set the parameters under the "Creating and Editing Your Rubric" by typing content into the preset boxes. Click, "submit" which is located at the bottom of the page.

      Review how your rubric to make sure it is the way you want it. You can make changes if necessary. Download it so that you can print it out. Make sure you print enough copies for what you need. Click the back arrow on your browser to bring you back to the print page.

      Create an offline browser document. To do this click on those words "Create an offline browser document." This is located in the center of the print page. What this action will do is allow you to view the rubric that you created without being online. This saves the rubric right to your computer. It is not being saved as a bookmark because you will not have to be online to view it.

      Be aware that you can also save your rubrics onto an excel spreadsheet. Click on the link on the print page that is labeled, "Download Excel Spreadsheet". When Excel comes up make sure the first thing you do is save your rubric in a file where you will remember it later.

Tips & Warnings

  • Teach your students how to use this program. Allowing them to be in on the building and planning process is a great learning experience.

  • When you click on a topic to create a rubrics you only have 40 minutes to complete it before the page expires.
