How to Enjoy Washington, DC in the Fall

Washington, DC is an interesting place to visit in the fall. There are a wide variety of attractions to see during the fall season. Whether you are on a budget or have money to spend, you can enjoy Washington, DC in autumn.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Walk the National Mall from one end to the other. At one end, you will find the Lincoln Memorial, where you can read the Gettysburg Address and brush up on your history. At the other end of the National Mall, you will find the United States Capitol Building.

  2. Step 2

    Visit the Smithsonian Museums. For those on a budget, this is a preferred activity. The Smithsonian Museums charge no admission fee for entrance. An interesting Smithsonian Museum is the Museum of Natural History, which features real dinosaur bones and a variety of gems and crystals.

  3. Step 3

    Visit the Newseum. The Newsum will cost you about $20 per adult ticket for entrance. However, you'll be able to gain an understanding of how the news is made while you check out different exhibits and films. The Newseum also has shops and theaters right inside.

  4. Step 4

    See a Nationals baseball game. Washington, DC finally has a baseball team again! If you're a baseball fan, it's worth visiting the Washingtion Nationals to see the new stadium and enjoy September baseball. If the Nationals make it to the post season, you can watch the Nationals play in October as well.

  5. Step 5

    Go to the top of the Washington Monument. You'll find the Washington Monument in the center of the National Mall. You can see the Washington Monument from a distance of miles away, peeking over the top of the trees and other buildings. From the top of the Washington Monument, you can see across the Washington, DC landscape below.

  6. Step 6

    Take a tour of the White House. If you're visiting Washington, DC, no visit is complete without seeing inside the President's home.

  7. Step 7

    Walk around Washington, DC, taking in the scenery. Check out the eclectic selection of restaurants, ranging from Thai food to Indian cuisine. Enjoy the fall foliage on the trees in October and November.

Tips & Warnings
  • The weather in the Fall in Washington, DC averages between 40 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit during the day. Evening temperatures are generally ten to twenty degrees cooler.
  • Beware of the weather if you're walking around. Sometimes it may rain or get windy, so dress accordingly.
  • Although the weather in the fall is generally mild, there are some days that may be cold. Check the weather before you go out each day.
