How to Draw Trunks

Drawing trunks is a good thing to practice when trying to learn how to draw three-dimensional shapes. They are made from two rectangles, basically, with a few added lines to created a box in perspective. Here's how to put it all together. These steps can be used to draw any size trunk.

Things You'll Need

• Pencil
• Paper

Instructions

1. 

   Draw a rectangle.

2. 

   Draw another, larger, rectangle in front of the first. Make sure that the top corner is right in the center of the first rectangle.

3. 

   Draw straight lines from the corners of one rectangle to the other.

4. 

   Erase the lines inside the box as shown in the example.

5. 

   Add shading, depending on your light source, and add a keyhole by drawing a hole inside a smaller hole.

Tips & Warnings

• To draw a trunk that is taller, make the first rectangle more tall than wide.
