Reno, the second largest city of Nevada, is often considered to be glitzy Las Vegas' lesser known younger sibling. However, with its nickname of "The Biggest Little City in the World," Reno has a lot to boast about in its own right. With casinos, culture and entertainment, Reno attracts thousands of visitors annually. If you're looking for a great place to enjoy gambling, with the added bonus of a smaller town vibe than Las Vegas, Reno is the perfect place for you. If you're planning on visiting Reno in the future, here are some of the best tourist attractions.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Gamble at Harrah's Casino. Located in Harrah's Hotel, this is one of the most well-known casinos in the city, most likely because it awards the largest jackpots in the city. With roulette and blackjack around the clock, all day and all night long, the fun just doesn't end at Harrah's Casino. Not to mention, the staff members working the casino are extremely courteous and helpful.

  2. Step 2

Try out Grand Sierra Resort and Casino. This enormous casino has over 115,000 square feet devoted to pure entertainment. There are over 70 tables, a Big Six Wheel, 1,500 slots, massive video screens, a Superbook section and more available there. No matter what you heart desires to play, you can find it at Grand Sierra, where the sky is the limit.

  3. Step 3

Spend an afternoon at the Nevada Museum of Art because gambling is not all that Reno offers. This museum is a pleasant way to explore exciting art exhibitions from both local and international artists. The main focus of the Nevada Museum of Art is explained in its mantra: "Growing interest in the protection of the land." This means that most of the exhibits focus on the land and environment. This is an educational and fascinating place to look around and learn.

  4. Step 4

Visit the National Automobile Museum. This is a good place for car buffs as well as those who are interested in vintage artifacts. The museum displays cars from the nineteenth century up until the 1960s. The vast majority of the cars here were owned by William F. Harrah, owner of the famous casino. One exciting example of an automobile displayed here is the German Duesenberg, from 1913.

  5. Step 5

Relax at the Wilbur D. May Arboretum and Botanical Garden. This garden is open to the public free of charge, from the time it opens to closing time every day. There are various fauna on display, as well as historical exhibits. The main point of the garden is to demonstrate gardening in a dry, arid environment (such as Reno). Be sure to check out Honey's Garden, which is beautiful and consists of yellow and white roses as well as waterfalls.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you plan to visit Reno during the month of July, try to check out the "Artown" festival, which is an extensive annual art festival. From music to the visual arts, the festival attracts almost 300,000 visitors every year.
