Things You'll Need:
- The internet
- At least $100 for about four or five strings of lights
-
Step 1
Shop online. LED Christmas lights are sold online in many different colors, shapes, and lengths. Expect to pay $20-$25 dollars for a 70 to 100 bulb string.
-
Step 2
Decorate sensibly. Since you won't be able to afford as many lights as you might normally hang, string your lights in high impact areas, like windows, the corners of ceilings, and on a small Christmas tree.
-
Step 3
Use common sense. While LED lights are cool to the touch and safer than incandescent strings, don't string more than three strings together at a time. And don't overload power outlets at Christmas time.
-
Step 4
String and store the lights carefully. Even though the bulbs won't burn out, use care when putting up and taking down the strings of lights. It's still possible to damage those thinly coated wires through rough treatment. Wrap the lights around a short piece of wood or coat hanger to store them so they can be strung easily next year. Carefully untie knots, never yank apart tangled lights.
