How to Choose an Album Cover in a Picasa Photo Gallery

Picasa is a photo imaging program from Google. It is available as a free software download from the Picasa website. With Picasa you can group your pictures in a gallery. Choosing the right picture for your gallery album is important because it's the first picture that others will see.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the homepage of your gmail account. Since Picasa is a Google product, you need to have a Google account to access the Picasa Web albums (see Resources below).

    • 2

Click "Photos" on the upper left of the Gmail toolbar at the top of the page. You should now be looking at the "dashboard" of your photo gallery. This is where all your unlisted and listed albums are stored.

    • 3

Choose an album for which you'd like to change the cover picture. Do this by clicking on the particular album. Now you should be seeing all of the pictures that you have in this particular album.

    • 4

Click "Edit" and then "Album Cover" from the list of options above the uppermost row of pictures. A small box with thumbnails of all pictures in the album will open in a new window. Drag the cursor over the new picture that you would like to use, click the picture to confirm your intent (a blue highlighted box will appear around the picture) and then select the tab "Choose Photo."

    • 5

Close out of that particular gallery and go back to the photo "dashboard" where all of your albums are shown. You should now see that the new picture you selected is your current album cover.
