1
Find a flat hard surface that you can build on, such as a kitchen table, play table or a hardwood floor.
-
2
Locate the logs that are flat on one side and notched on the other. These will be used for the base of the log cabin. Remember to use shorter pieces for the front of the log cabin on either side of the door and longer pieces for the other three sides of the cabin.

3
Build up the walls of the log cabin, completing one layer all of the way around the cabin before beginning the next layer on any one side. This is because you need the logs to lock together to make the cabin sturdy. If you want to incorporate a window into one of the walls of the cabin, then use the same short pieces you used to leave an opening for the door for as many layers as it takes in order for the window to be the right height. Then return to using the longer logs to end the window as well as the door at the top.
-
4
Use the roof pieces that come with the Lincoln Logs to complete the log cabin once the walls are as tall as you would like them to be.
-
5
Play around with different log cabin shapes and sizes once you have mastered the basic square one-room log cabin. You can also play around with any other special pieces that your Lincoln Log kit comes with.

Tips & Warnings
If there are specific dolls or action figures that you plan on having live in the log cabin that you build, make sure that you make the walls tall enough for them so that they don't bang their head on the roof.
