This article will give you several simple home remedies to remove blood stains from your laundry.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Meat tenderizer
  • Ammonia
  • Fabric safe bleach
  • 3% Hydrogen Peroxide
  • Powdered Laundry Starch
  • Cold water
  • Sunshine
  1. Step 1

Option 1: Make a paste of the meat tenderizer and water. Rub it in the stain and let it set for 30 minutes. Rinse the clothing in a mixture of 2 quarts of cool water and 1 tablespoon of ammonia. Rinse in cool water and let dry in the sun.

  2. Step 2

Option 2: Flush the stain with cool water before it dries. Soak in cold water for at least 30 minutes. Rinse. Work some laundry detergent or commercial stain remover into the stain. Wash in the hottest water the fabric will stand, using fabric-safe bleach.

  3. Step 3

Option 3: Sponge the stain with cool water. Work a spoonful of Hydrogen Peroxide into the stain. When the foaming stops, rinse in cool water. If the stain is gone, launder as usual.

  4. Step 4

Option 4: Make a paste of powdered starch and water. Rub it into the stain and let dry. Peel the dried paste away, rinse in cool water and launder as usual.

Tips & Warnings
  • The faster you get the blood stain under cold water the better it will come out.
  • Soaking for several days in a solution of 3 parts water and one part laundry stain remover will work well.
  • Use one of the stain remover "sticks" and let the stain sit overnight, then launder.
  • If the stain is not gone after washing in cold water, do not dry it in the dryer, the heat will set it in and you'll never get it out.
