Trunk or Treat

Trunk-or-Treating, is also known as Halloween Tailgating or Tailgate Trick-or-Treat. You and your neighbors or parents at your school all drive their Halloween decorated cars to a parking lot at a school or business and pass out candy to kids as they trick or treat. The Trunk or Treat parties are growing in popularity when door-to-door trick-or-treating would be unsafe or not practical. Here is how you can organize one.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • People
  • Cars
  • Parking Lot
  • Candy
  • Decorations

Organize a group by handing out flyers at your school or church or other organization. Make sure you have a specific time when everyone should meet. Your flyer could say something like, "We are all getting together for a Halloween Tailgate party at the Walmart parking lot on Halloween night at 7:00p.m. Remember to decorate your car."

  2. Step 2

Check with your city or local police dept. to see if they have any tips on a making it safe. Ask permission from Walmart or any other store or business if you can use their parking lot. If you are a business, you can use your own parking lot as a safe place to do this event.

Have fun decorating your car with paper streamers and balloons. Make sure you can see and add other decorations that go over the windshield, etc. after you get to the parking lot.

  4. Step 4

Decorate yourself, too. Have the whole family wear coordinating costumes.

  5. Step 5

Bring either battery run lights or a small generator for lights and a large cooler with soda and water for the "trunkers" and of course candy for the "treaters". A folding chair, too.
