How to make a Wedding Cupcake Tower on a budget
Cupcakes look much more polished when placed on a cake stand or cupcake tower. While many bakeries charge exorbitant amounts for their towers, you can save money by purchasing a plain tower kit from a craft store and decorating it yourself using materials you already own. Tie the cupcake tower to the theme of the overall wedding using excess materials left over from other projects. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Cupcake tower kit
- Fabric
- Gift wrap
- Scissors
- Glue
- Black paint
- Sponge paintbrush
- Ribbon
- Lace
- Hot glue gun

Purchase a plain cake tower kit from a craft shop. Determine the number of tiers you need by the number of cupcakes you will have. A five tier cake stand will hold around 51 cupcakes.

Trace the rounds for each tier on the backs of old wedding gift wrap or scraps of fabric that match the wedding colors. Cut out the paper or fabric and glue it onto the tier. Let dry.

Paint the supports black. Press the paintbrush into the sides of the cardboard to color the corrugated ridges. Let the supports dry completely.

Glue old ribbon, lace or strips of fabric around the outer edges of the tiers with a hot glue gun to hide the cardboard. Let dry. Assemble the cupcake tower as per manufacturer's instructions.

Tips & Warnings
Be careful not to glue fabric or paper over the grooves where the tiers and supports connect.
