Step 1
Clean the car thoroughly. Wash and wax the exterior. Clean everything out of the interior, and wash the dashboards and vacuum the seats and carpeting. Use tire cleaner to shine the tires and any rubber exterior pieces of the car.
-
Step 2
Take photos on a sunny day, but not when it's so bright out that the car picks up reflections and is hard to see.
If it's winter when you take the photos, consider taking them inside a large garage. This eliminates the "car in a snowdrift" look that may turn off some buyers. -
Step 3
Take exterior shots from all angles. But, concentrate on getting a clear shot of the front, back, and both sides of the car. Take close ups of any minor or obvious damage.
-
Step 4
Take interior shots next. Photograph the driver's area, the quality of the front seats, and then take a well lit photo of the rear seats.
You may also want to photograph the car's title. -
Step 5
Clear, honest photographs, will help your car sell online. Detailed shots of any damage lend to your credibility as a seller. Edit your selection of photos to about ten unique photos. Post these in your online listing.
