Step 1
You'll need to photograph your dog in a variety of settings and lighting conditions.
-
Step 2
You'll want to take two styles of photos of your dog: portraits and photojournalistic-style photos.
-
Step 3
To photograph a portrait of your pooch, create a backdrop where your dog can pose. Just like a real photography studio, hang black or white sheets to create an atmospheric backdrop that complements the color of your dog. Use a box with a sheet over it to create a pedestal for small dogs. Use lamps with their shades taken off to light the room so it's very bright. Take photos of your dog alone, and photos with family members sitting or kneeling next to the animal.
-
Step 4
Now you'll want to take photojournalistic style photos of your dog. Go out and play with your dog in the normal places you walk and play. Have someone else walk the dog and take shots of the dog walking, sitting and running outside, shots with family members, and photos of any of the dog's special talents. Get down on the animal's level to take more dynamic photos. Kneel or sit as you shoot so the dog is larger in the frame.

Step 5
Import the photos into your computer. Now you can make a web slideshow, print out photos for framing, or use a photo book service to send away for a memorable keepsake book of your animal.
