Putting dinner on the table can be a challenging job for working mothers. Not only do they have to take care of other household chores, but feeding the family is a necessity. A quick and easy recipe that my family enjoys is a quick recipe for beef stroganoff. My kids loved the Hamburger Helper version but it contained way too much sodium. This version is much healthier for you.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 lb. ground chuck
  • 1 med. chopped onion
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 16 oz. pkg. of medium egg noodles
  • 1 cup sour cream
  1. Step 1
    Ground Chuck ready to brown.

Brown ground chuck, onions, salt and pepper and cook until onions are done and meat is brown. Drain off excess fat. Set aside.

  2. Step 2

Boil water for noodles in separate large pot. Add noodles when water comes to a boil. I use a 5 qt. Stainless steel saucepan.

  3. Step 3

Drain noodles when tender, approximately 10 minutes. Put back in pot.

  4. Step 4

Add ground chuck and onion mixture and stir. Next add sour cream and mix thoroughly.

  5. Step 5

Let simmer on low setting for approximately 5 to 10 minutes to even out the temperature.

Your dish is now ready to serve. Enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • Optional: 1 to 2 cups of tomato juice added after the sour cream. Let the mixture simmer on a medium setting for about 10 to 15 minutes until liquid is absorbed. The optional ingredient of tomato juice is not preferred by everyone. My family prefers this recipe without the tomato juice, however, you may like it with the tomato juice.
  • Garnish with parsley when serving to guests to make a nice impression.
  • This recipe serves 6-8 people.
  • For those that do not like sour cream, don't tell them that it is in there! My kids don't care for it, but they loved this recipe. My husband also doesn't care for sour cream but likes this dish. Just keep the ingredients a secret!
