Having trouble with flagged or deleted eHow articles? Here's how to make sure your articles stay published!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Remember that eHow is a website for "How To" articles: How to tie a knot, make a pie, read body language, refinance your mortgage, lose weight, catch a curve ball. Whatever subject you write about, it has to fit into this format. eHow automatically adds the words "How to" at the beginning of your title to make sure you stick to this format. If you want to write another type of article, there are other website venues for that.

  2. Step 2

All material should be original, written completely by yourself. Plagiarizing or reprinting material that has already been published elsewhere is prohibited. Give appropriate credit to any sources or images you use.

  3. Step 3

Double-check your article for accuracy. If your article is full of misleading or inaccurate information, it will very likely be flagged and pulled off the site.

  4. Step 4

Check your article for correct spelling and punctuation. Look for sentence fragments, run-on sentences, subject-verb agreement, and other basic grammatical errors. When in doubt (or even if you're sure it's right), copy and paste each paragraph into Microsoft Word for a quick check. You might be surprised what subtle errors it catches!

  5. Step 5

Your article should not read like an advertisement for a particular product, business, or service. Using eHow for second-hand advertising purposes or sharing proprietary information is prohibited. eHow is also not to be used as a platform to "stump" for your favored political candidate or party.

  6. Step 6

Your article should not be a thinly disguised critique or defamation of something or someone you don't like, whether it be a product, business, celebrity, or politician. It should be informational and educational only, not biased.

  7. Step 7

Threatening, hateful, slanderous, vulgar or harmful material will most certainly be flagged and deleted.

  8. Step 8

Keep your article free from offensive content, including foul language and explicit sexual content.

Tips & Warnings
  • For more information, see eHow's Terms And Conditions Of Use: http://www.ehow.com/terms_use.aspx
  • Keep a copy of your article on your computer. If it gets deleted, you can forward the draft to an editor or eHow staff and ask them to point out the errors.
