Whether you find yourself babysitting your favorite munchkins, or coming up with something fun to do with your own little ones, having an activity that is easy, inexpensive and fun to do is key. A great art project creating your own fall leaves can be a perfect way to spend an hour of quality time and help build confidence and creativity at the same time.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • White construction paper
  • Crayons
  • Black or brown pen
  • Finger paint (if you want and don't mind the mess)
  • Scissors (for the grown-up) to cut out the leaves
  1. Step 1

This project is all about creativity and each of you will be drawing and coloring your own "fall leaves". Sure, most grown-ups think of these as maple leaf shaped leaves in a riot of rusts, oranges and reds. Kids may surprise you. The first step is to talk to the kid, or kids, and explain to them that they are going to create own "fall leaves" and you are going to cut them out to decorate the room or maybe just a special area.

  2. Step 2

Provide each child with white paper and a black or brown pen to draw the outline of the leaves. Let them draw whatever leaves they want. It's really fun to see what they come up with.

  3. Step 3

Encourage them to be as creative and wild as they want with their leaves when they go to color them. It may be tempting to remind them that all leaves are usually red or orange, but enjoy their creativity. it's fun!

  4. Step 4

After they have colored their leaves, cut them out with the scissors following the outline of the leaves. You can use them to decorate a window, or a wall - have fun!

Tips & Warnings
  • If you are feeling extra daring (and don't mind cleaning it up) you can spray the leaves with spray adhesive and sprinkle with sequins or glitter for really jazzy leaves.
