If you have ever wanted to create a comic book, you can! Pull out your pencils and paper and get ready to sketch, draw, write. And much more...

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • computer software that you can draw with
  • Pencils
  • Erasers
  • Sketch or drawing paper
  • Bristol board
  • Tracing paper
  • Carbon paper
  • Ruler
  • Black india ink
  • Nylon paint brushes
  • Ink pens etc.
  1. Step 1

    The Idea!
First! There are a few things you need to know, one the characters, and two the plots of the story and how the will end. It can be simple comic book or a complex book.
For example, Guy meets girl in mall, they really hit it off. The new potential couple are in a conversation, when out of nowhere the crazy ex-boyfriend shows up and attacks without question. Now they story can go anywhere from here! Is the new guy a superhero or some punk that can't fight is way out of a paper bag,you make up the story.

  2. Step 2

The Lay-out plan of your comic book!
Write the story in a script-like form that can be added to each panel, so that the comic book has a steady flow. Use your imagination, you want to keep you readers attention. ( Who knows your story could end up in the movies?)

  3. Step 3

All those sketches and Drawings to develop a good comic book!
Develop the characters appearance by sketching pictures of how you want them to look. The characters could range from Jimmy the mouse to Sammy Groper the business executive, you decide! It could be stick figures, cartoon-like drawing or realistic with a little exaggeration, it is up to you!

  4. Step 4

    Angles and more Angles
Now, that you have your story and characters, it is time to start making panels to put your story in comic book form. The a page has several different type of panels that emphasis different angles or camera shots
you have a birds-eye view looking down at a city or something. The action shot that's as if you were looking straight at the action in front of you and the worms eye view etc. What ever style you use mix it up and add your own flavor! If you get stuck start looking at newspapers, magazines and other comic books for ideas.

  5. Step 5

Transfer your Pencil drawings to be Inked!
Once you have your sketches together, will want to transfer them to the Bristol board. You can trace the drawings using tracing paper and carbon paper, use this technic to get the pencil lines you want to keep.
Now that you have your drawing on Bristol board, you now start inking your pencil drawings. Use your black India ink with ink pens and brushes. When the ink is dry use an eraser to clean up the picture.

  6. Step 6

    The Coloring
Now the next thing is coloring your comic book pages, This can be done by scanning your drawing into a computer and using a software program like Photoshop or indesign etc. Or you can do it the old fashion way, with color ink and brushes, it is your choice. You may want to trace your original ink drawing, on another sheet of Bristol board.

  7. Step 7

    The Lettering
Note: some artist draw there word balloons in with the sketches, other paste them on-And still others use the computer to add word balloons to get the story told!

  8. Step 8

    Print that Book!
Once you have your Bristol board or your comic book save to file. Now you can take your work to a printing shop and distribute it yourself or have a comic book publisher to do it. It is your choice, good luck!
