Things You'll Need:
- a Pet Squirrel that died naturally
-
Step 1
It is optional that you place the squirrel in a special box or container, but otherwise just find a legitimate, safe, and appropriate area to bury the squirrel in the ground.
-
Step 2
Invite everyone who ever knew the squirrel. Have them join you at this place at a specific time.
-
Step 3
Play a song that reminds you of the squirrel.
-
Step 4
Bury the squirrel at least a foot deep into the ground.
-
Step 5
Have a leader or ordained minister lead you in a moment of silence.
-
Step 6
Allow everyone to share their memories and feelings about the squirrel and what's happening.

on 11/15/2008 I didn't even think it possible to keep a squirrel as a pet! Maybe I'll try it someday, there's loads of em always scurrying across my campus (they're too cute for words) Useful information!!! *****

on 10/20/2008 Also good to remember that it's difficult to bury any type of pet under a tree, as the root structure tends to halt the digging processes. :D
Never, ever, ever put your dead pet in a plastic bag, either.
Rock on!

on 10/13/2008 Hah, as funny as it may sound I've actually really had pet squirrels before. When I was growing up my cats would knock down a nest and we'd find the babies and try to rehabilitate them. They're really hard to take care of, I think the oldest they ever really got with us was 9 months. Great article 5*

on 9/21/2008 I once buried a pet squirrel in winter and couldn't break through the icepack. Good advice, however, for burying pet squirrels in warm climates.
