Throw a Halloween Party for Kids

Halloween is that time of year when kids of all ages can dress up and pretend to be someone else. Here are some ideas to throw a fun Halloween party.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Decorations
  • Music
  • Game items
  • Food
  • Goodie Bags w' favors
  1. Step 1

Tell your guests to come to the party in costume. Decorate for the party with orange and black streamers & balloons, pumpkins, and other Halloween goodies. Cut out bat, pumpkin and witch hats from construction paper and hang from the ceiling.

  2. Step 2

Play Halloween games. Choose games based on age. Children of all ages will enjoy a pumpkin toss where they take turns tossing wrapped candy or spider rings into a plastic jack-o-lantern. The child who gets in the most wins. Guessing the number of candy corn in a large jar is a fun simple activity. The winner gets the jar and the candy. For a list of more games you can play see the resource section below.

  3. Step 3

Craft activities are fun at parties. Young children can make candy necklaces. Buy string licorice and have them string them with cherrios. Kids of all ages love making edible spiders. Melt chocolate and spoon over a large marshmallow, add red hots for eyes and chow mein noodles for spider legs. Very cute, tasty spiders.

  4. Step 4

Bat sandwiches, Spiders nest dip, Deviled eggs and roasted pumpkin seed all make for yummy Halloween fare. See resource for recipes.

  5. Step 5

Finish up the party with a Halloween parade through your building or neighborhood. Give each child a goodie bag with novelties like spider rings, mini Halloween erasers and more. Available at craft stores and Oriental Trading.

Tips & Warnings
  • Different kids have a different tolerance to scary things. Keep activities simple and not to scary for the young ones.
