Things You'll Need:
- internet
- an e-mail account
- time
-
Step 1
It tooks a couple of months once I decided to actually try to purchase a Wii to actually lay my hands on it. I ended up getting one at Toys-R-Us online. I tried and love E-bay, but could never find one as cheap as what the online or in-store prices were. In addition, I would have to add shipping cost through E-Bay. Not to mention probably getting out-bid each time.
-
Step 2
Here is the tool I used to finally get a Wii. It's really pretty simple to remember: http://wiitracker.com/
-
Step 3
Go to wiitracker.com. It lists each major store that carries Wii. Some of these stores want you to buy an extra game along with the Wii. If you want to do that - fine. It's not necessary. Remember for the console and one remote itself, you should not have to pay more than $249.99 brand new. All the stores that currently have them in stock are listed at the top in green. You may want to scan the rest of the page to be sure. Sometimes I have seen them list in stocks further down. Click on the green highlighted areas and that will take you straight to that store's page.
-
Step 4
You have to be fast with your clicking and monitoring. Sometimes Wii tracker will show the item in stock but going in to the store will actually show them out of stock. Truly, they sell out that fast. A store may get 10 in a week, and sell out within the hour of receipt.
-
Step 5
Be persistent with wiitracker.com. If possible keep it open all day at work, home etc.. Refresh the page every so often and monitor.
-
Step 6
There is a service on wiitracker.com that will e-mail, IM or text you when one is received. You can also view the history at the bottom of the page to see what you missed out on.
-
Step 7
Make a list of some of the stores listed on wiitracker.com to see if any are near you. Sears, Best Buy, Circuit City and Costco are all listed. Call these stores each week to see if any have been received and ask what day they typically receive them. Also go online to these stores, type in Wii console in the store's search bar and see if they show any in stock. Some of these stores have an option for you to receive an e-mail when Wii becomes available. Use it.
-
Step 8
I bought mine from Toys-R-Us and took advantage of the Bill Me Later option. I received the Wii and then had three months to pay for it. It's kind of like lay-a-way, but I got the goods up front.
-
Step 9
It's like anything else in life, just be persistent and you will persevere.
