Instructions

    • 1

Cut a piece of thin craft wire with scissors. The wire should be about 6 to 8 inches, but you can make it larger or smaller for different sized wreaths.

    • 2

Form the cut craft wire into the shape of a circle, but do not close the circle in any way.

    • 3

Thread the craft wire through many different colors and sizes of buttons. You can use any buttons you want, but flatter ones work best to create an even wreath. Keep threading buttons onto the wire until it is almost completely full, with only a small space open at the top.

    • 4

Use needle nose pliers to twist the ends of the wire together and close the wreath.

    • 5

Tie a piece of ribbon to the top of the wreath where you just twisted the ends closed and then tie the ribbon into the shape of a bow.

    • 6

Loop an ornament hook onto the top of the button wreath and hang the ornament on a Christmas tree, larger wreath, or doorknob (see Resources).

Tips & Warnings

  • Use wired ribbon to form a stiffer, more professional looking bow on your wreath ornament.

  • Help children operate the needle nose pliers
