How to Make Pumpkin Spice Potpourri

Pumpkins have always been a big part of the harvest season. They have been used for a variety of things like making pies or for decoration. This pumpkin spice potpourri will add a fragrant aroma for you to enjoy during this fall season. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Pumpkin
  • Orange
  • Large bowl
  • 2 cups nutmeg
  • 1 cup broken cinnamon sticks
  • 1/2 cup whole cloves
  • 1/2 cup hemlock cones
  • 1 cup yellow yarrow flowers
  • 3 drops cinnamon oil
  • 3 drops clove oil
  • 6 drops musk oil

    • 1

      Create dried pumpkin peel. Cut thin pieces off the pumpkin and place them on a cookie sheet. Place the cookie sheet in the oven at around 110 degrees F until the pumpkin pieces are completely dry. The drying process should take 1 to 3 hours.

      Make dried orange peel. Cut thin slices off an orange and place them on a cookie sheet. As with the pumpkin, you can place the cookie sheet in the oven to dry out the peel at 110 degrees F. Drying should take 1 to 3 hours.

      Place dried pumpkin peel and orange peel in a big bowl.

      Add cinnamon sticks, nutmeg, cloves, hemlock cones and yarrow flowers to the bowl. Stir well.

      Slowly add the scented oils to the mix and continue stirring.

      Display your potpourri mix in glass vases, mason jars, baskets or any other container you choose.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also add nuts, acorns or allspice to your potpourri.

  • Orange or red small pieces of ribbons can be added into the potpourri mix for an extra touch!
