The Darlington Raceway is known as the track that is “too tough to tame.” The banks and turns at Darlington are unlike those on any other super speedway in the NASCAR circuit. This leads to a distinctive driving style on the track, which leads to highly entertaining action for those who are fortunate attend an event. If you are a fan of auto racing, then this is one track you will not want to miss.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide which Darlington race you would like to attend. There are two races held at Darlington, South Carolina. The “Diamond Hill Plywood 200” is held in early May as part of the NASCAR Nationwide Series. This is followed by the “Southern 500” the next night, as part of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Because the two races are held on consecutive days, many fans like to attend both events.

  2. Step 2

Check into available seating. The races held at Darlington often sell out quickly, so don’t wait until the last minute to buy your tickets. You can research available seating by visiting the tickets section of the NASCAR website, or by visiting racetickets.com, which is an authorized partner of NASCAR. Links to both sites can be found in the “Resources” section below.

  3. Step 3

Determine what travel arrangements need to be made. Some places, such as sportstraveler.net, can bundle your race day tickets into a package deal that includes hotel and accommodations. Some of these packages even include special hospitality options, such as meeting the drivers. If you do not wish to spend the extra money on a package deal, you will need to make your own air and hotel reservations.

  4. Step 4

Buy the tickets. After making a decision on the options in Steps 1-3, use your credit card to purchase the tickets and travel reservations. You can choose to have the tickets delivered by mail, or held for you at the track, depending on which is more convenient.

Tips & Warnings
  • If the race sells out before you can buy your tickets, try to find tickets on stubhub.com. This site often has tickets for sale by individuals who bought tickets but, for whatever reason, can not attend the race.
