Bring a bit of your garden into your house by making this lovely and delicate-looking rose petal picture frame. If you don’t have roses, ask friends to save you rose petals from their gardens. This frame fits in any garden-themed room, is lovely for a girl's bedroom or simply to show off a special photo or picture.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dried rose petals
  • White craft glue
  • Water
  • Foam craft paint brush
  • Picture frame
  1. Step 1

Gather roses and pull the petals off, then spread them out on a bed of silica gel and cover them with more silica gel. Leave them to dry for 3 or 4 days. An alternate method for drying the petals is to press them in-between sheets of waxed paper under heavy books for a week. Make sure with either method that the petals are not touching each other as they dry.

  2. Step 2

Mix white craft glue and water together. Make it thin enough to brush on, but not runny or it will drip all over. Try adding just a few teaspoons of water at a time until you get the right consistency.

  3. Step 3

Brush on the glue and water mixture on one area of the frame at a time. Carefully set the rose petals on the brushed-on solution so that they stick in place. Make a row of them all the way around the outer side part or the frame, and bend the edges of the first row of petals behind the frame so that the side edges are completely covered. Be careful applying the rose petals so you don’t rip them. Press them down carefully in place.

  4. Step 4

Brush some of the glue and water mixture over the whole rose-covered surface again to make sure the rose petals bond and to preserve the petals. Let it dry thoroughly, at least overnight. Add another layer after it dries, then let it dry again. The rose petals should be flat against the frame and not tacky to the touch. Once they are dry, put your photo or picture in the frame and display it.
