Things You'll Need:
- Clear glass Christmas ball ornaments
- White craft glue
- Foam/sponge craft paintbrush
- Scissors
- Tissue paper in Christmas colors or designs
- Small bowl
- Water
- Red or green cord or ribbon
-
Step 1
Mix a bowl of white glue and water. You just need enough water to thin the white craft glue down so you can brush it on easily with the foam paint brush. Only add a couple teaspoons at a time to get the right consistency. Don’t make it too runny, or it will drip all over as you use it to apply the tissue to the glass ornament.
-
Step 2
Cut or rip the tissue paper into small pieces about 1 square inch or smaller. One sheet of tissue paper will cover a few ornaments. This is a low-budget project, especially if you look for sales for the glass ornaments. Craft and department stores often have before- and after-Christmas sales where you can stock up on a few boxes of these at discount prices.
-
Step 3
Brush one area of the glass bulb with the glue-and-water solution. You should just do one small area at a time, and work your way around the glass ball as you apply the tissue pieces.
-
Step 4
Put pieces of tissue paper on the surface of the glass ball where you have painted on the glue-and-water mixture. Be sure to overlap the pieces as you apply them. Then brush more of the glue-and-water mixture over the top of the pieces to make sure they are flat and will stay in place.
-
Step 5
Continue all the way around the glass ball until the whole ornament is covered. Then let it completely dry. If any pieces did not bond against the glass, brush another layer of the glue-and-water mixture over the whole surface of the ornament. Then let it dry completely again.
-
Step 6
Top it with a cord or ribbon tie to hang it by. Now, you have as completed tissue-covered glass ball ornament to give as a gift or put on your own Christmas tree.
