If other applications are using your TV auxiliary outputs, hook your video game to your DirecTV receiver. It's so easy to do, you don't even need any tools. You can use your fingers to tighten all the connections, and the picture quality will match or surpass anything you'd get with a traditional TV hookup.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Check the options for input, which will vary depending on the DirecTV receiver model. Options may include Coaxial, RCA, HDMI, USB and Svideo. Note that some models employ an auxiliary input, or an input labeled "B." Purchase an audio/video A/B switch if there is no secondary input. Connect your satellite output to the "A" side and your video game output to the "B" side. Connect the output of the A/B switch to the satellite input on the DirecTV receiver.

  2. Step 2

Check whether the video game has the same options for output listed in Step 1. Select the appropriate cable to complete the hookup once you establish a matching connection between the two units.

  3. Step 3

Connect the video game to the receiver. Connect the cable from the video game "out" to the receiver "in."

  4. Step 4
    The game is on.
    The game is on.

View the game. Select "Satellite" on your TV remote. You may need to select "Aux" on the receiver to view the game. Turn to the "B" side if you have an A/B switch.

Tips & Warnings
  • Most receivers have secondary outputs but only one input.
  • Depending on how your receiver is configured, you may not be able to switch from satellite programing to the video game without reconnecting the cables
