How to Keep Eye Makeup From Creasing

• Foundation
• Eye makeup primer

Instructions

1. Begin with clean skin. Make sure yesterday's makeup has completely been removed along with oil build-up. Do not apply any moisturizing cream to your eyelids. Save this product for bedtime--if you have problems with eyeshadow that creases, it is likely that your natural oils interfere with your makeup's staying power. You don't need any more emollient textures here.

   Include eye area when applying foundation. This gives your eyeshadow a base to hold on to so that it does not slide off of your skin. As soon as the foundation has absorbed into your eyelids, smooth an eye makeup primer over them, from lash line to brow bone. Not only will this make your eyeshadow color pop, it is your secret weapon against creasing.

3. Make extra sure your eye makeup stays firmly in place by using matte--not shimmer or cream--eyeshadows in places where creasing is more than likely to occur. Avoid spots such as the crease and the inner corner of the eye. On the brow bone, you have a wider range of eye makeup textures safely available for you to use.

4. Apply your eyeshadows, particularly the first layer, with a stippling motion using an eyeshadow brush with a flat head. This ensures that you get as much product on your eyelids as possible, with minimum fallout onto the under-eye area. A blending motion will give you a sheerer wash of color, so choose your application method accordingly.

5. Brush a very light dusting of translucent powder over eyelids with a medium to large fluffy brush. Focus your application on the areas where you used matte eyeshadow, namely from lash line to crease. Now your makeup has been set.
