Magic tricks are always a lot of fun to learn. The more you practice, the more believable that the trick will be. Practice in front of a mirror so that you can make sure that your audience has no possible way to see how you are doing it. Here are some simple beginner's magic tricks involving coins for you to practice with.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

  1. The Disappearing Coin Trick

    • 1

Trace the top of the glass onto the sheet of paper. Cut the circle out.

    • 2

Tape the circle to the piece of glass so that when you put it onto the paper it will blend in. As the magician shows the glass upside down, place the coin on the sheet of colored paper.

    • 3

Put the handkerchief over the glass and move it over. Pull the handkerchief off and the coin will have disappeared. The construction paper covers the coin under the glass so it appears to have disappeared!

    Easy Hand Flip Coin Trick

    • 4

Lay a coin in each of the palms of your hands. The coin in the left hand should be placed exactly in the middle of your palm, while the coin in your right hand should be positioned close to your thumb.

    • 5

Flip both of your hands over to slap the table in front of you. This should be done in a quick motion. In doing this, the coin in your right hand should slide over to fall under your left hand. The coin in your left hand should just fall straight down to land on the table.

    • 6

Have your audience guess where they think the coins are at this point. Most will say there is one coin under each hand because the quick motion did not allow them to see the coin in the right hand move over to the left side. You can entice your audience to guess both hands by moving your right pinky a bit, as if you were trying to make the coin go a little further under that hand. Then you can reveal that they are wrong!

    • 7

Lift up both hands to show your audience that both coins are under your left hand.

    • 8

Practice the trick to have both coins land under the right hand. Now you can always keep your audience guessing when you have mastered both hands with this trick.

    Turn the Coin Trick

    • 9

Have a friend take five coins out of his pocket and drop them on a table. It does not matter what types of coins they are, as long as they have a heads and tails on each side. As he does this, you secretly count how many coins are "heads up" and how many are "tails up." Don't look obvious when counting.

    • 10

Tell your friend to turn over the five coins and say the word "turn" each time he does. You will have your back facing your friend so you cannot see him turning the coins.

    • 11

Have your friend slide the last coin under his hand, as you are going to guess if that coin is "heads up" or "tails up." You do this by looking briefly at the coins on the table and then looking into your friend's eyes. Reveal the side of the coin turned up to the audience.

    • 12

The secret to this trick is that since you knew ahead of time how many "heads up" and "tails up" coins there were to begin with, you can easily figure out the hidden coin by counting the opposites since the coins were turned over. Try it a few times, and it will make perfect sense to you before you try it on an audience.
