Step 1
Know the Rutter riddle. A woman claiming to be Debbie/Carrie Rutter has posted lies all over the internet. She is not part of the Webkinz founding family. She does not get loads of free merchandise and codes to give away. Those that e-mail her their usernames and passwords will not get anything they are promised. Ignore this woman; she is a fake!
-
Step 2
Keep codes private. When people are searching for cheat codes or secret codes, they will often find websites (scams) that offer them, but require Webkinz usernames and passwords first. Remember that there is not one legitimate website that requires a username and password for cheat codes.
-
Step 3
Trade wisely. Some Webkinz users like to trade, but only close friends should trust one another. A stranger on the internet who asks to trade will often take someone else's username and password, and then give nothing in return! Never give others your login information.
-
Step 4
Kick contest offers to the curb. One of the most popular asks people to send items to their account, and whoever sends the best one will get an amazing prize. Another method of phony-contest hosts is to encourage others to share their account information, and a winning account will be randomly selected. These are both scams.
-
Step 5
Don't hire babysitters. Numerous people have posted Webkinz babysitting offers online. They claim that it's not a scam, and say if it makes the owner feel better, he/she may change his/her password after the babysitting period. However, the babysitters change the password first and keep everything for themselves.
-
Step 6
Monitor your account. Sometimes people are only after Kinzcash, so if that begins to mysteriously disappear, change your passwords immediately. A Webkinz account will be closed if the user agreement is violated (even by a trespasser), and none of the codes can be reused. The victims will be forced to start from scratch.
