Kids love to pass notes to each other. After you explain to your children that there is a proper time to pass notes and an improper time to pass notes, you can teach them how to fold their notes into a square. This makes passing notes much more fun. Kids can't wait to see what is written inside the square.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Lay your piece of paper out so that it is more long than tall.

  2. Step 2

Fold your piece of paper down so that it forms a rectangle. Make sure all the ends meet. Again, the piece of paper is more long than tall.

  3. Step 3

Fold your piece of paper down again as you did in Step 2. You will now have a thin shaped rectangle. It should still be more long than tall.

  4. Step 4

Fold the left edge of your long rectangle diagonally upward. Then fold the right edge of your rectangle diagonally downward. Each end will now look like a triangle and there will still be a rectangle in the middle.

  5. Step 5

Fold the left triangle again diagonally upward. Then fold the right side downward again in a diagonal direction. This is the same as you did in step 4 above.

  6. Step 6

Take the point on the left side and fold it toward the middle, but around the back. Then take the point on the right side and fold it toward the middle, but around the front. You will have two points sticking out when you are done.

  7. Step 7

Fold one of the points into the middle. You will need to tuck it into the slot that is there. Then fold the other point in toward the middle and tuck it under the slot you just made when you folded over your other point.

Tips & Warnings
  • If your child really enjoys folding notes you can move on to teach them how to fold money into neat shapes.
  • You must use a regular sized piece of school notebook paper for this project to work.
