How to Store Preserved Flowers

Preserved flowers are used for a variety of different craft projects. Many times you can find preserved flowers in bulk and pay less money for them. But then you have the problem of how do you store the preserved flowers that you do not need at the time.

Things You'll Need:

• Paper
• Cardboard box
• Mothballs
• Airtight container
• Silica crystals
• Envelope
• Plastic sandwich bag

1. Before you store any preserved flowers, you always want to make sure that the flowers are completely dry. If the sealant on the preserved flowers is not dry, it may cause mold to form on them when stored away or cause the flowers to wilt.

2. Wrap air-dried preserved flowers in paper and store them in a cardboard box. Toss in a couple of mothballs into the box for insurance if you will be storing the flowers in an attic or for a long period of time.

3. Store silica-dried preserved flowers in an airtight container. Place that airtight container in a dry location, that is away from sunlight. You may want to add in some silica crystals into the box for extra protection.

4. Pressed flowers can be stored in a couple different ways, but they should always remain flat to preserve their shape and beauty. Store them in sealed envelopes or plastic sandwich bags and then place them in a sturdy box for safekeeping.

5. Label all of your storage containers with what type of preserved flowers are in them and in what colors. This will make it easier to find a particular flower when you need it.
