How to Make an Anagram From a Name

If your kids want a brain teaser, have them try making an anagram from their names. It's almost as much fun as pronouncing your name backwards--and a little trickier, because you can come up with some pretty wacky names by using the letters in your first, middle and last names. Here's how to do it.

Have the child write her name on a piece of paper. First and last is fine, but you can add the middle name if you want more variety.

      • 2

Let the child have fun picking different letters out of his name and forming whole words out of them. As he picks each letter, have him cross it out. The trick is to use every letter.

      • 3

Impress upon the child that the new name doesn't have to make sense, or even be an actual name. Sometimes, having the name of an object in the anagram is funnier. For instance, Brad Pitt could be Drab T. Tip.

See how many different variations of her name the child can come up with.
